Triptych of a Doubter (Maarten Westra Hoekzema)

In Triptych of a Doubter, Maarten Westra Hoekzema engages the audience in changing their mindsets three times over. For this he draws on three generations, and three world views.

Maarten's great-grandfather was a preacher. He believes in the omnipotence of God, and the fact you can convey that belief onto others.Maarten's father was a salesman. He believes in the feasibility of the world, and he believes that you can sell anything to anyone, if only you can seduce. Maarten himself is a theater maker. He thus embodies both the preacher and and the salesman, but is primarily a doubter. Is faith the only way to salvation? Do we have control over our own lives, as long as we can seduce? Or is the meaning of life that what we want to leave behind and the influence we want to have on others?

After the first tour in autumn 2014 (Flanders and the Netherlands), Triptych of a Doubter, the finale of Maarten Westra Hoekzema's monologue series, will be reenacted next season.
