Drag Chain / Push Chain (Kevin Trappeniers)
In 2014, the dance performance SELFED by Kevin Trappeniers premiered at Plesni Teater Ljubljana (Slovenia). After this choreographic debut, that consisted of an outside and an inside part made for the specific locations in Slovenia, Kevin Trappeniers reworked the inside part to physical theatre at TAKT Dommelhof (BE) for its TAKT Festival for emerging performing artists.
In DRAG CHAIN / PUSH CHAIN Trappeniers explores methods to adapt the body to mental and physical barriers and how to overcome those obstacles or gain control over them. The performance incorporates both the philosophy and techniques of Parkour within contemporary dance.
Performance and dance investigate the notion of the energy of self and self-sacrifice. The self meant as tool for introspection and reflexion, of demolition and construct of the body and the mind. Accordingly, selfed reflects on the positioning of a person towards individual and social power structures.
As always in Trappeniers' work, light, sound and smell are equally important - content and form are sensory amplified.
