Back in 2012, Frank&Robbert – aka Robbert Goyvaerts & Frank Merkx – formed an artist duo. These creative and technical equals effortlessly bring together a variety of artistic techniques and forms of expression, building a body of work that can’t be pigeonholed into any single style or medium. Visual art, video work, theatre performances, performances, ... The multidisciplinary world of R&F F&R knows no bounds (or at least none that they can’t work with). In addition to their performances, the duo also creates location-specific installations and they are regularly to be found presenting their solo exhibitions and visual interventions in museums, off-spaces and public places.
The awards and honourable mentions they have garnered in recent years (Horlait Dapsens, Celeste Prize, Start Point Prize) attest to how far-reaching their work is. They also participated in an exchange with Air Alexanderplatz Berlin, and, in 2014, made it to the final selection of Circuit X, allowing them to tour internationally for years under the auspices of CAMPO arts centre.
Most recently they have been focusing on their long-term project Table Dialogues. This is a series of intimate participative performances that combine immersive digital art (VR, AR, AV), theatre and visual art.
FIRE and EARTH will return for the 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 seasons. In the 2024–2025 season, they will also share their work-in-progress WOOD.
